Anchorage’s freeze-thaw weather makes for messy roads and sidewalks

🌧️ A weather system moving through Southwest Alaska will bring mixed precipitation and gusty winds Saturday night into Sunday: Bristol Bay: Freezing rain early Sunday morning, transitioning to rain with gusty winds throughout the day. Kuskokwim Delta: Snow will change to rain by Sunday afternoon, with a brief chance of freezing rain. Aniak to Sleetmute: Snow may mix with freezing rain, changing to rain Sunday. A storm force low tracks across the Bering Sea through the first half of the week, bringing strong winds and periods of moderate to heavy rain. Winds will initially be southerly as a front sweeps across the Aleutians Monday & Monday night and will gust as high as 60 mph. Winds are likely to be stronger behind the front, as high as 70 mph, blowing westerly through Adak and Atka on Tuesday, then Unalaska, Nikolski, and possibly portions of the southern Alaska Peninsula on Wednesday. #akwx | US Nat
